SKILLS

Through a range of volunteering and work experiences, I've developed valuable skills such as teamwork, communication and problem-solving. Volunteering has taught me to adapt to diverse environments and work collaboratively with others. My work experience has enabled me to take on a range of responsibilities and manage tasks efficiently. these opportunities have strengthened my leadership skills as well as my ability to overcome challenges in dynamic environments.

Communication

Being involved with youth work has significantly improved my communication skills. Working with young people requires both clear and empathetic communication to be able to connect and address their specific needs. Having completed work experience in both a marketing and commercial property firm has also improved my communication through the exposure of varying environments which require concise and clear messages

Leadership

Progressing to a senior manager role in a pub demonstrated my strong leadership skills through the ability to manage teams in a fast-paced environment to uphold brand standards. I also took on other responsibilities such as training new staff as well as managing bookings which all requires strong communication. This progression in my role reflects my ability to manage teams whilst also driving results for the company.

Teamwork

Volunteering in a COVID-19 Vaccine clinic as well as participating in events at the pub highlight my teamwork skills through my ability to collaborate with others in a high-pressure environment. Working closely with healthcare professionals meant I had to adapt quickly to dynamic situations, requiring strong levels of coordination and support within the team. Similarly, working in events involved setting up and delivering high-quality experiences for customers. Both roles highlighted the importance of working cohesively towards generating goals.

Problem Solving

Being a part of the Mandarin Excellence programme enhanced my problem-solving skills by navigating a complex language structure including both tones and characters. This process required analytical thinking to break down unfamiliar sounds and symbols to then communicate effectively. Having overcome the challenges of learning a new language has meant I can apply these strategies to real life scenarios in a work environment
